07:35 pm - RESEARCH PAPER!~
Holy shit I finally finished my Govt. research paper, in which we had to write about any person who has influenced govt. and politics - I wrote about Dennis Kucinich! I started working on it around 12, but only really started working on it at around 2. So for 5 hours straight I sat there and wrote, read sources and news articles and googled for new ones - I LOVE GOOGLE BOOKS, btw. So yes, it's done with. I have 20+ sources cited in the end, and apparently annotated bibliography is required. @_@ Ahwell, off to do that.

You can learn a lot about someone by the music they listen to. So here is the game! Hit shuffle on your iPod or mp3 player and write down the first 25 songs. No cheating or skipping songs that are shameful. That is the fun! Then tag your friends.

03:03 pm - College app woes
It's been a while since I've updated my LJ. Meh, currently I'm just stressing out a lot over college applications. I was going to previously apply for as many as I could, as woo if I get in, but then I found out there's an issue with the college application fee waivers - they require you to have taken the SAT using a fee waiver apparently before you can use them, but the next SAT date that I've signed up to use the waiver for is Dec. 5, so I'm kinda fucked in that area. So I'll likely end up having to just apply to UF and one other, and hope hope hope that I get in. I just can't find which other to narrow down my search to - sadly I think I'll stay in Florida for at least a couple of years in college, and the other state unis aren't that suitable. Either they lack my intended major - Advertising, yay - or they just are in a bad area or with terrible public transport. UF at least IS the entire town, so the public transport is fantastic and frequent. I'm currently doubting my chance of getting into UF, though, and it's depressing. I'm almost done with my application, aside from the essay.

The essay requires me to write about a 'meaningful event, experience, or accomplishment' in my life and how it will affect or contribute to my college experience. @_@ The thing is, I've done nothing. As a younger kid I didn't care much about doing stuff, 'cause I had TV and computers and books, and as a current kid my family's a bit too poor to go anywhere or do anything. Soo, bleh. The most exciting thing I can think to write about is me volunteering at the library, but I'm not sure how to make that sound ~amazing~ and life changing. 'Cause it wasn't. But whatever, I need to get the essay done within a couple of weeks and submitted.  College is pretty much my only way out of this town, and so if I don't get in anywhere I might as well be like the rest of those stranded in this shitty area, with children while they're still in their teens and terrible jobs and drug problems. My expectations are slightly higher than that, though.

I'm also worried over AP tests - these ones are fairly important, seeing as how most of them are courses that I'd need to take in college, so I better pass all four of the tests this year.

So bleh. I can't wait until my favorite shows start airing again, 'cause at least then I'll have some bigger distraction from life.

09:08 pm - Crossovers Are Evil
There is a good reason why I should not read Life on Mars fanfic while reminiscing over Avatar and watching a few fanvids. Mainly 'cause crossovers start sounding hilarious. Gene would be an earthbender - he looks good in green, is kind of the base for all of CID and just generally fits. Sam would be a firebender because while at times he's calm he easily gets upset or angry and is generally emotional. Annie would be a waterbender with healing skills. Basically similar to Katara except not an annoying cow. Chriss.... wouldn't know what kind he was. At first he'd go, "Oh maybe I'm an earthbender like the Guv! 8D" but of course he's not. Then Sam comes in and he's like," o_o Maybe I'm a firebender.." but he's not. He ends up being a waterbending, and is kind of disappointed but get an excuse to hang out with Annie. And so not flirt with her. Of course not. Ray.. doesn't get to be any element. As he's the Sokka of CID. Except not as funny and kinda a jerk. IlRay, but he is.  I should never be allowed to sketch for lulz.

Anyway, crossovers aside I'm kinda bleh. I've missed two days of school 'cause my stomach was just like, "@o@ I hate life."  But now I think it's hopefully alright maybe. So, a bit of school work to make up on Monday. Joy. MERLIN APPARENTLY IS NOW AIRING! :D I didn't know, and so need to watch two episodes tonight or tomorrow. Thaaat's about it. Oh, and St. Ives Apricot Scrub = <3.

01:59 am - Curse you, limited releases!
It's depressing when I cannot watch a movie that I really want to see, such as Moon. It's apparently nowhere online which is annoying. However, I then realize that I'd even see it in theaters if I could. Usually I avoid movie theaters, as they're just annoying - you can't eat what you want, you have to deal with idiots and uncomfortable seats and overpriced shit. I prefer DVDs, or if the movie's not out on DVD then watching it somewhere online. But anyway, I checked what theater around me was airing it and apparently there are none! :D Then I checked on the movie's site and found out that pretty much in its entire limited release there will be maybe four theaters in the whole of Florida showing it, none of which are even remotely close to me. Damnit. So unless a decent version is online, I'll likely only see the movie when it comes out on DVD. I hope that will be around the end of the year, but I'm not even sure.

I wish the BBC would release promo pictures of Eleven and Amy. <//3 I get that they're trying to put the focus on Tennant's last few episodes, but they still posted the useless not in character promo shots so that's a shitty excuse. I just want a new wallpaper - even though I do love this one. I am slowly wanting to ship Eleven/Amy just because they're both adorable. Hopefully they go completely old Who and never mention the ship on screen ever, or that'd kill it.

I want Doctor Who, Ashes to Ashes, and Dexter to airrr. Along with whatever other show I'm forgetting. I miss TV shows. :[

03:52 pm - Atlas Shrugged
Earlier in the year I had the option to read Atlas Shrugged for English, but chose the less daunting book Cat's Cradle as I really didn't want to have to read such a long book when I had little time. The assignment was to make a project to convince others to read the book, and I was convinced to read Atlas Shrugged. Yeah, I can't.

I made it about 70 pages in, in one sitting and not can't think of returning to reading it. It's not a terrible book, just.. so boring. The characters don't have much character, the writing is just very boring. Though I do like Hank Rearden - he's the only character in the book that I think is interesting but even he isn't worth reading. Well, if you have literally nothing else to read or listen to that's fictional then I suppose it'd be something to bide your time with. However, when I have the choice of reading Dragon's Egg, listening to a silly Doctor Who audio about pirates, reading fanfiction or The Dark Path it's hard to go to Atlas Shrugged for enjoyment, because in it there is none.

Bah. :D Though I'm also gonna listen to the audiobook of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep and am considering Flow My Tears, The Policeman Said if I get desperate. I can't decide whether FMTTPMS is worth it, as it sounds fairly generic Sci-Fi fare buuut. Bah.

The bruise on my arm from the IV when I got my teeth out is barely healing - the outer bits have faded to the sickly yellowish color, but the inner is still red. This might be mundane to a lot of people, but I hardly ever bruise so it's just something weird and new.  My mouth itself is healing stupidly - I think I ended up getting dry socket in both my lower teeth because I fail at healing. The upper ones are fine, though. I hope it'll be completely healed up before I go back to school in late August.

Whee. So, that's about it. Oh, and I got a new default icon. :D

03:53 pm - Wisdom Teeth the Sequel
So yay, the teeth are out. But my lips and tongue and chin are numb. I have ice packs on my cheekish areas and the pain medication is making me sleepy but I reaaally don't wanna go to bed because I'd roll over right onto my side and thus onto the side of my face and it'd hurt. :[

anyway, now I just need to recover. The scary part's over with, and wasn't that bad in the end.

01:27 am - DW + RL stuff
Rewatching some Ninth Doctor episodes - namely The Long Game, Bad Wolf and The Parting of the Ways makes me miss everything about series 1 of New Who. IlNiney and even Rose is adorable then and .. realistic? She's still a chav, but it's not a negative thing just a part of her character. She manages to flirt a tiiiny bit with the Doctor and it's cute rather than headdesking-worthy. Jack is also so much better omg. It makes me want to ignore Torchwood canon as a whole because I miss Jack when he was just a good swashbuckling-type character who was charming and flirty and generally a guy that you wouldn't trust with any of your possessions, but one you'd love to have a chat with. In TW he's a dick and not someone I'd really wanna chat with. :[ Punch and tell off, maybe. This isn't even over CoE, as I .. don't mind? his decisions in that (and CoE is so not personal canon for me anyway), but rather.. Iunno. Torchwood!Jack isn't the same. I don't like TW!Jack. :[

But Nine's series kinda seems a bit wasted. 3/13 of the episodes had Slitheen in them and all of them make me facepalm. I hate Slitheen.
Also pretty much everything that's been revealed about Eleven makes me wanna see the series so much. Well aside from the cuffs on his trousers as those look bad, and a certain disliked character's actress on set... But I suppose some stuff is unavoidable. Afterall, how are you gonna find a tailor in all of time and space to hem up some pants? While other stuff is just annoying, buuut. It has to be less annoying than RTD's run.

So, onto real life stuff. On Friday I have to go and get allll four of my wisdom teeth removed.
Oh, and I'm trying to get a few new icons. So far I'm going to get/make a Ninth Doctor one and a new James May one, most likely from /that/ photoshoot. @3@ Yes, the leather gloves~. whee.

Ohno, this is turning into Len's LJ, isn't it? But I had weirdly fandom-related dreams, both Doctor Who related. In the first I was the Master, or at least saw stuff from his POV. Apparently it was after the end of series 3, and the Doctor had kept the Master on his TARDIS. The main thing I remember about the dream is that the Master kept on collapsing, and I think it was mainly for attention from the Doctor or something. XD It was odd because since it was one of those dreams where you're seeing it from a character's POV but aren't in control of the charry at all. So the Master was randomly collapsing a bit like a little kid not wanting to go somewhere, and the Doctor had to pick him up and carry him. It kinda was adorable, in truth, in an attention whore!Master way.

The other one involved me and another companion on the Eighth Doctor's TARDIS. For some reason, he had a lot of wild animals in this one section and they were dangerous, so he had to send them back to the wild. Haha, I just remembered a specific bit where I had to go to the bathroom, and so I opened up a door that led to one - only to see a bunch of black cats hanging by their tails on a shower rod, upside down. It was weird. Eventually, though, the Doctor set up a teleport to get all the animals back. The other companion had grown fond of this little monkey, and was sad when he went back. There ended up being a lot of domestic cats left on the TARDIS. :D

03:18 pm - Teeths
So tomorrow I'm going to have to make an appointment with the oral surgeon about my wisdom teeth. :[ I'll need to go in for a consultation, and if he/she deems it .. extract-worthy? then I'll have to go back and get them removed. The idea of which terrifies me, because.. well. Eek. D: I nearly cried the first few times I had to have a cavity filled, and still dislike the dentist even just for cleaning. I can only hope that I can be knocked out, as any other way I'll be panic attacking. Though the idea of being anesthetized also terrifies me. D: Baah. Here's to some weird hope that I won't have to get any of them removed, even though I've seen the xrays and it so looks like at least one is impacted. Curse you, small-jawed genetics.

ETA: Oh, and also, DW fangirlishness kicked in at the Dentist's. Someone in the room near me was getting a cavity filled, and they of course put the.. cavity filling stuff in it after drilling it out. But to dry the stuff they have this little ray-gun looking thing that they put near/on the tooth that I just realised sounds like the sonic screwdriver. :D I was amused.

05:33 pm - The Supreme Court
Raaargh I'm angry. >:< Mainly at the Supreme Court system in the US as it is so non beneficial in regards to change. For a government system that can completely change its leader and therefore the goal for the county every FOUR YEARS the Supreme Court seems such like a dictatorial council. They might as well be the High Council of the Time Lords.

Let me run some clearly biased to my viewpoint statistics at you. The average age of a member of the Supreme Court is 79. Anyone who is 79 was born in 1930 - just 12 years after WWI came to an end. 17 years after Henry Ford created his production line and began to mass produce cars. You would have grown up in an brief era of peace between WWI and WWII, and might have even served in WWII had you been a few years older.

The United States' governmental stylings are not perfect - there are many flaws. However, making it so that 9 people can reside over the laws of the United States for as long as they see fit, or more frequently until they die, is something that can easily be changed.

Invoke a term limit on these judges - ten years is one that seems generous but viable. They do not need to be like a current Justice, who has been a member of the Supreme Court for 34 years - ever since President Ford placed him as such. As a nation we need to change to stay strong, including fixing what is broken.

Blah. This morning I accidentally spun my chair around, which hit my keyboard slidey thing, which then slid in and toppled my cup of tea over. onto my keyboard. :D I thought it was alright when I got home now, as I had had it upside down all day, but no. About 10 minutes ago the spacebar + the bottommost row stopped working completely. </3 So I've had to resort to a very old and louder and not as good keyboard. Also its volume control buttons don't work. <//3 If I had $20 I could buy the same one that I used to have on ebay, but I lack the funds. Bah. I hate adjustign to a new (though this used to be mine anyway ) keyboard, as it makes me type like a drunkard.
